    The New Rockford-Sheyenne girls cross country team competed in their final meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they headed to Jamestown for the state contest. All runners competed in the 5K. Elizabeth Widmer led the Rockets with a 69th place finish overall and a time of 22 minutes 14 seconds. She is the only senior the Rockets will lose to graduation.     New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) played quite well overall against the Kidder County Wolves in the second round of the nine-man football playoffs played here on Saturday, Oct. 20 before a very good crowd.   The Wolves scored first, but the Rockets packed it up on both ends of the field after that and shut the Wolves down.     New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) varsity volleyball team traveled to Carrington on Saturday, Oct. 6 for a tournament. The Rockets won one, lost two and split one. In pool play, the locals lost to Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (MPB) 25-18 and 25-18. They defeated Turtle Lake-Mercer (TLM) 25-9 and 25-11.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) girls volleyball team had a busy week with region games on Thursday Oct. 11, Monday Oct. 15 and Tuesday Oct 16.     The first quarter was somewhat of a struggle for the New-Rockford Sheyenne (NR-S) Rockets, but they played well after that and delivered a 50-12 win over the Larimore Bears in Region 2 9-man football action played at Larimore on Sept. 28.     Two North Dakotans have been honored in The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds’ Hometown Heroes program. This program salutes citizens doing amazing things in their communities. New Rockford High School graduate Sara (Birkeland) Medalen and Sgt.
