Peter and Patti Larson recently returned from a trip to Norway and Sweden. They met up with their daughters, Joanna and Sandra, in Bergen, Norway on March 2. The picturesque harbor, beautifully preserved wooden houses on the steep hillsides and a stone fortress, standing proud since the Middle Ages, were the first sights they saw after the overnight flight from Grand Forks through Minneapolis and Amsterdam. Patti Clifton spent Jan. 12 - 19 in Sun Prairie, Wisc., with daughter Jena and Rance Brown and their son Rowan. The Sheyenne Turkey Dinner was another success despite the snowy weather and the furnace problems at Ostby Hall on Christmas Day. The dinner was moved to Open Season Lodge after it was found that the heating system at Ostby Hall was not working. Lots of volunteers moved the dinner and supplies to the Lodge early that morning and the dinner went on as scheduled. One hundred diners enjoyed the great turkey and all the trimmings dinner as well as a visit from Santa Claus. Along with the 100 diners attending, 50 take-out dinners were ordered and...

The evening of Tuesday, Dec. 6, members of the Eddy County VFW Auxiliary hosted their annual Christmas get-together at the Sheyenne Senior Center. Sheyenne GRIT met on Sunday at Ostby Hall. Attendees were shown a copy of the submission to Strengthen N.D. The main focus of this meeting was discussion on improvements needed at Ostby Hall. Originally a Ford garage, the hall has become a community center, hosting bingo, dinners, benefits, household sales, etc. Volunteers are needed to serve on various committees and on the GRIT board of directors. Last Thursday, Patti Clifton and Jared were in Devils Lake. They had lunch, kept a couple of appointments, did a few errands and some shopping before returning to Sheyenne later in the afternoon. Another successful First Lutheran Church Women's Fall Turkey Dinner was held on Sunday. About 250 enjoyed the meal, bake sale and visiting. Jerry Woodrow of Menomonee Falls, Wisc. arrived in Grand Forks on Friday, Oct. 7, for a few days to visit with his brother, Jim and Marjean Woodrow and family, and sister Jan Loe and her daughter Steph. Jan Loe and Steph attended the funeral service for Ellen Loe Burthold at American Lutheran Church in Tolna last Friday. Word was received that Carol Patterson Harris, 88, of Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away recently. She was the daughter of Fay and Helen Patterson. Carol lived in Sheyenne during her teenage years, graduating from Sheyenne High School with the Class of 1952. She had lived in various areas, but was living in Soda Springs at the time of her death....

Saturday morning, community members met at the Sheyenne Senior Center for a GRIT meeting. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2 p.m. at the center.
