Lucas Schumacher joined Donn Frahm as a partner in the business in February, and has been making adjustments of all sorts ever since.     Cue the flags, sirens and firecrackers! New Rockford will hold its annual Independence Day Celebration this year.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne School Board election will be held on Tuesday, June 9 by absentee ballot only. The absentee ballot application and instructions is available on the school website and Facebook page, or can be sent via email or mail upon request.     Eddy-New Rockford Library reopened its doors to the public on Wednesday, May 6. Librarian Susie Sharp says, "We can't wait to see you all but some things will look a little different when the library first opens up. We will start out slowly."   • County implements burn ban; courthouse access restricted until at least June 2

    A burn ban is in effect for Eddy County. Emergency Manager Jess Earle says that while burn bans are usually implemented during times of low humid, this ban is in response to dead and dry vegetation. Of most concern are the burning of vegetation and garbage, which can inadvertently spread. Commissioners also decided at their May 5 meeting that he Eddy County Courthouse doors will remain locked until the next commissioners meeting on June 2.     Public Works Superintendent Hirchert reported that City Clean-Up Week will not take place in May due to the coronavirus outbreak. Electronics Recycling was cancelled as well. Commissioner Ryan Hager asked that city officials consider holding a curbside pickup event in the fall, and Hirchert said he is open to that.
