    A news story in the Jan. 10, 1902, “Transcript” said that the previous week [on Jan. 1] former Eddy County resident and current Velva grain buyer J.C. Fay had been walking in an alley behind the Kirkwood Hotel in Velva when a gust of wind blew some bricks off the chimney.     New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) played quite well overall against the Kidder County Wolves in the second round of the nine-man football playoffs played here on Saturday, Oct. 20 before a very good crowd.   The Wolves scored first, but the Rockets packed it up on both ends of the field after that and shut the Wolves down.
