NR-S scores first 20 points against HWC

w Rockford-Sheyenne took firm control and cruised to an 85-50 win in Harvey over the HWC Hornets Tuesday night, January 22.

The Rockets went on a 20-0 run to begin the District 7 contest, with Teddy Allmaras scoring 10 of those points, and NR-S’ run-and-gun offense kept on tickling the twine for the rest of the night to easily put away a young Hornets team with just one senior on their roster.

For the second straight outing, Hunter Thompson was the leading scorer for the Rockets with 22 points. Bo Belquist finished with 19, and Allmaras would ultimately put an end to his night with 15 points.

Six-foot-two sophomore guard Tyson Tipton led HWC with 14 points. The aforementioned senior, Conner Fike, tallied 12 in the losing cause for the Hornets, whose record fell to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the District 7 table.

NR-S is now 9-2 for the season and 3-1 in conference games. The Rockets travel next to Leeds to take on Benson County on Tuesday for A-B-8th-7th grade games starting at 3:30 p.m.

This weekend, Coach Tyler Cook’s ballclub hosts the St. John Woodchucks for an A-B-C clash. The whistle for the C-squad game blows at 2:00 p.m.
