Hillsboro-Central Valley sweeps Post 30

New Rockford Post 30 Black Sox traveled to Hillsboro on Tuesday, June 13 for an American Legion Baseball doubleheader. Both games counted in the section standings against Hillsboro-

Central Valley.

Game One

The Hillsboro-Central Valley Blue Sox scored two runs in the first. Post 30 came up with one run in the third. Bo Belquist singled up the middle with one out. He moved to second on a passed ball and scored on an error. The locals scored one more in the fifth. Belquist drew a lead-off walk, and moved to second on an error. He scored on a single by Tyrus Smith. Hillsboro-Central Valley scored six runs in the fifth, sending nine batters to the plate. New Rockford mounted a comeback in the seventh, as they scored three runs, but it was not enough and the Blue Sox took the opener, 8-5. Tucker Longnecker and Cole Myhre pitched pretty good overall for Post 30. The locals did strand seven base runners.

Game Two

Hillsboro-Central Valley came up with one run in the first, one in the second, and two in the fourth. The locals scored their only run of the game in the third. Nathan Holzwarth led off with a single. He scored on a two out single to left by Smith. Hillsboro-Central Valley came up with two more in the fourth, and one in the fifth and Hillsboro-Central Valley won game two, with a score of 7-1. Teddy Allmaras pitched a pretty good game for Post 30. The Blue Sox are a pretty good overall team. New Rockford is now, 2-2 in Sectional Play, and 3-3, overall. Next action for Post 30 is Tuesday, June 19 at Harwood. Game one begins at 5 p.m. On June 21, the locals travel to Harvey for a nine inning game beginning at 4 p.m.
