Rockets roll past Mustangs

Locals enter District 7 Tournament with 11-8 record

The first quarter was close, but New Rockford-Sheyenne took control of the game from there. The locals cruised to 95-54 win over Midkota in non-district boys basketball action played here on Thursday, Feb. 15.

It was Senior night and Wilson Howard was given an autographed basketball before the game by the team and coaches. It was the regular season finale for the Rockets. New Rockford-Sheyenne led most of the way and at all quarter stops, 21-20, 47-28, 77-39, and again the locals won by a final of 95-54. In this game, the Rockets made a whopping 13 three pointers.

The Mustangs are a young team but the next few years could be good for them. Mason Smith led the visitors with 23 points, John Edland and Jacob Timm each had 11 points.

The Rockets had excellent scoring balance. Teddy Allmaras led the way with a game high 26 points. Bo Belquist and Wilson Howard each had 16 points. Luke Ystaas 14 and Hunter Thompson added 13 points.

Midkota made 21 field goals, 10 of 18 free throws, had 11 fouls and committed 17 turnovers.

New Rockford-Sheyenne made 37 field goals, 8 of 10 free throws, had 14 fouls and committed 10 turnovers. The Rockets close out the regular season at 11-8 overall.
