Rockets upend Wildcats

The game was close after one quarter, but New Rockford-Sheyenne had a big second quarter propelling the Rockets to an 81-58 District 7 win over Benson County in boys basketball action, played here on Tuesday, January 30.

Benson County had good overall height, but were not all that quick as a team. The locals did a very good job of getting their running game going and shot very well from the floor and everyone contributed to the win. Overall the game was quite physical . Everyone contributed to the win.

New Rockford-Sheyenne made 31 field goals, 8 of 10 free throws, had 15 fouls and committed 10 turnovers.

Benson County made 23 field goals, 11 of 16 free throws, had 10 fouls and committed 16 turnovers. Carter Tandeski paced the Wildcats with 22 points. Keaton Nelson added 14.

The Rockets had excellent scoring balance. Teddy Allmaras led the with a game high 25 points. Bo Belquist had 15, Wilson Howard 14, and Tucker Longnecker added 10.

New Rockford-Sheyenne finished at 5-1, in District 7 play and are now 8-7 overall. Next action for the Rockets is Thursday, February 8, when Rolette-Wolford comes to town. Three games will be played, with the first one set for 4:30 p.m.
