It's Christmas Eve, and the Penrose Players are standing at the verge of bankruptcy.
Siblings Elle and Aaron Penrose, the fourth generation owners of the Penrose Playhouse, are trying to enjoy one last Christmas in their historic family-owned theater.
They are in the process of selling the building, and the buyer's agent shows up to inspect the property on Christmas Eve Day, right as the last dress rehearsal gets underway for their Christmas Day performance.
To make matters worse, the Penrose family, their troupe and the agent all get trapped inside due to a snowstorm.
Will holiday anxiety do them in, or will they find a way to save their troupe and preserve their family legacy?
This sentimental, nostalgic holiday production written by DPRCA Artistic Director Elliott Schwab is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.
If the storyline filled with nods to various holiday favorites doesn't do the trick, the 18 classic Christmas songs will surely seal the deal.
"The Christmas Show" opens on Friday, Dec. 1 at the Old Church Theatre in New Rockford. Performances are scheduled each Friday to Monday from Dec. 1-11, and Thursday to Sunday Dec. 14-17.
Starring Ann Marie Garcia as Elliot "Elle" Penrose and Gavin Brown as Aaron Penrose, "The Christmas Show" features several familiar faces. Returning to the DPRCA stage are Jared Hartl, Jon Johnson, Drew Relling, Grace Quam, Paige Thomas and Rachel Markestad. Newcomers Emma Bennett, Peyton Piatz and Rupert Minkus round out the cast.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students and $10 for youth aged 10 and under.
