NR-S Girls 4x160-meter relay team sets CNDC record

The New Rockford-Sheyenne track and field team traveled to Minot State University to compete in the CNDC Indoor on Friday, March 31.

A total of 29 NR-S athletes competed in the meet, with many scoring in the top 10, along with many personal records and meet records.

The Belquist sisters were top-placers for the girls' team. Kelsie Belquist took first place in the 55-meter dash, the 55-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash.

In the 55-meter hurdles, K. Belquist set a new meet record with a time of 8.10 seconds. Jocelyn Dinius of Langdon Area/Munich set the meet record with a time of 8.45 seconds back in 2016. In the 200-meter dash, she topped her own record from 2022 with a time of 25.07 seconds.

Emmie Belquist took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.91. E. Belquist also competed in the 55-meter dash and long jump, where she took ninth place and fourth place, respectively.

K. Belquist and E. Belquist competed alongside Katie Allmaras and Lucy Meier in the 4x160-meter relay, where they placed first with a meet record time of 1:26.76. The girls' relay team beat the record set by Anna Knutson, Jamie Effertz, Brittany Berndt and Courtney Thingstad of Velva/Drake back in 2016, where they completed the event in 1:27.44.

L. Meier and K. Allmaras competed in the 55-meter dash, where they placed fourth and eighth, respectively. K. Allmaras also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed seventh with a time of 29.22 seconds.

Ava Peterson took fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:10.16 and Jaida Schumacher took fifth place with a time of 1:10.55.

The girls' 4x400-meter relay team, made up by L. Meier, Peterson, K. Allmaras and Paige Knatterud, took second place with a time of 4:41.00.

Also placing in the top 10 for the girls' was Schumacher in long jump with ninth place and Peterson in triple jump with ninth place.

The NR-S girls team placed third overall with a total of 79.5 points.

As for the boys' team, Porter Granger led with a first place finish in long jump with a jump of 20 feet, 9 inches. Trevor Waldo also placed in the top 10 in long jump with a jump of 19 feet, 11 ½ inches. Waldo took fourth place overall.

The boys' 4x160-meter relay team made up of Connor Knatterud, Granger, Waldo and Easton Benz took second place with a time of 1:18.42, just milliseconds behind the Rugby team who took first with a time of 1:18.08.

C. Knatterud competed in the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, where he took fourth place in both events.

Also scoring in the top 10 for the NR-S boys' were Easton Benz, taking fifth place in the 400-meter dash and sixth place in triple jump; Lucas Yri placing fifth and Easton Simon placing seventh in the 800-meter run and Waldo, Granger and Bennett Meier taking sixth, seventh and ninth place, respectively, in high jump.

Thomas Allmaras, Simon, B. Meier and Yri made up the boys' 4x400-meter relay team. The 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth with a time of 4:05.63.

The boys' team finished in fourth place with a total of 52.75 points.
