Dauenhauers acquire storage business

Jacob and Amanda Dauenhauer, owners of Dauenhauer Diesel Repair, have begun a new chapter in their careers.

On Friday, July 29, they purchased Westside Storage from previous owners Marlin and Val Weisenburger, and have rebranded it as New Rockford Storage.

The purchase included the storage facilities at 1024 Central Ave., just west of Dauenhauer Diesel Repair, and on the corner of 3rd Avenue North and 2nd Street North, right behind Casey's General Store. Also included was an RV park located directly behind Mick's 281.

The Dauenhauers have already made their mark on New Rockford and the surrounding area with their diesel repair business, which has already been around for 10 years. Now, they're looking forward to another opportunity to do business while helping their community.

"We thought it was a really feasible business, and we thought it would be good for the community," said Jacob Dauenhauer. "... Getting to meet all the new clients and build relationships with them is the best part."

Amanda Dauenhauer added, "Yeah, that's what I'm excited for. I'm excited to get to meet more people around here, people that we don't deal with in our diesel business."

Jacob Dauenhauer said they've been working with the Weisenburgers for about a year now, and he expressed appreciation to Weisenburger for his help and support throughout the process.

The Dauenhauers were allowed to begin work on the RV park weeks before the purchase was final - including all new electrical and water repairs - which enabled them to have everything ready when construction workers needed a place to put their campers this summer.

As for the storage units, the Dauenhauers already have plans to add another row of units sometime next year. Currently, every unit is already being used, and there's a waiting list for when a few of them eventually open up.

When asked what he'd say to potential customers interested in renting a unit, Jacob Dauenhauer said there's nothing he really needs to say that would encourage residents to give them a call.

"We don't usually have to go to them, they come to us," he said. "... People just have so many items, so much stuff, it just naturally happens. And then they don't want to get rid of it, or they're attached to things, and pretty soon they're calling for a storage unit."

Those interested in renting a unit to keep their valuables safe, store their keepsakes, or to simply hold their junk, can reach Amanda Dauenhauer by emailing [email protected] or by calling (701) 302-0169.

The same number can be used for those interested in using one of the eight RV lots on the corner of 2nd Avenue South and 2nd Street South, just behind Mick's 281.
