“Wanted—Work by the day.—Mrs. E.E. Corey. Inquire at H.T. Kennedy.” A.O. Krider had taken up at the Healy farm, twelve miles northeast of New Rockford, one red yearling steer with a crooked horn; owner must pay costs.

Early in the week, James Gudgell arrived to look over operations at the Gudgell Ranch.

Mrs. Gunter of Durand, Michigan, mother of Mrs. Alva Tomlinson and Mrs. George Brown, had arrived the previous week and was enjoying a winter’s visit in the Tomlinsons’ new home. Also the previous week, John Gardner, who had been building elevators during the fall, returned from Glenburn for a winter at New Rockford.

On Jan. 6, attorney and Mrs. R.P. Allison returned from a visit with their son, R.L. Allison, and family in Jamestown. That evening, Miss Irene Brownell entertained some of her young friends at her home on Stimson Avenue East.

On Jan. 7, Richard Zehrfeld returned from visiting in the Twin Cities for two weeks. Also coming back from the Twin Cities after the holidays were Charles, Emilia, and Fena Carlson. Alec Austin returned from a holiday visit with relatives and friends at Reynolds, N.D. Mrs. R.R. Woodward left on a visit to her old home in Canada; she returned on March 11. Mr. and Mrs. D.Y. Stanton and Miss Mamie departed for a lengthy visit at their old home in New York State.

From Jan. 7 to 9, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Brown visited in Jamestown.

On Jan. 9, the school reopened after the Christmas vacation; Dora Beer entered a special class for teachers. O.R. Pomranke left on a three-months’ trip to Birnamwood, Wisconsin, where he had relatives; then he would go on to California, Oregon, and Washington.

From Jan. 9 to 13, State’s Attorney R.F. Rinker was in Knox on legal business.
