Belquist state qualifies in two events at Hazen

The Rockets headed to Hazen on Tuesday, April 6, to compete in the Hazen Early Bird Invitational. Seven Rockets athletes placed in the top ten, with one receiving two state qualifications.

Kelsie Belquist competed in three different events. Belquist competed in the 400-meter dash and received first place with a time of 1:00.04. Belquist competed in the 200-meter dash and received first place with a time of 27.04 seconds. And lastly, Belquist competed in the triple jump and received first place with a jump of 35’10”. Belquist state qualified in the 400-meter dash and the triple jump.

Chloe Heinz competed in the 800-meter run and with a time of 2:44.50, she received third place. Heinz also competed in the 1,600-meter run and received second place with a time of 5:52.25.

Chloe Guthmiller competed in the shot put and received 16th place with a shot of 24’9.5”. Guthmiller also competed in the discus and received 26th place with a throw of 63’05”.

Overall, the Rockets’ girls team placed seventh with a score of 44.

For the Rockets’ boys team, they placed seventh with a score of 21.5.

Evan Ulrich competed in the shot put and received third place with a shot of 39’03”. Ulrich also competed in the discus event and received fifth place with a throw of 103’10”. Hunter Johnson also competed in the shot put and discus events. Johnson received fifth place in shot put with a shot of 37’04.5”, and received seventh place in discus with a throw of 92’09”.

Lucas Yri was another Rockets athlete to compete in three events. Yri competed in the 200-meter dash and received 11th place with a time of 28.64 seconds. Yri competed in the 100-meter dash and received 17th place with a time of 14.18 seconds. Yri also competed in the long jump and received 26th place with a jump of 15’08.5”.

Along with Yri, Connor Knatterud competed in the 100-meter dash. Knatterud received 12th place with a time of 13.32 seconds. Knatterud also competed in the 400-meter dash and received fifth place with a time of 1:02.26.

Porter Granger competed in the high jump and received seventh place with a jump of 5’02”. Granger also competed in the long jump and received 21st place with a jump of 16’04.5”.
