Obituary: Lois Ebentier

Lois Eugenia Ebentier, age 98, formerly of Carrington, N.D., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, Minn.

Private graveside service was held Dec. 2, 2020 at Carrington Cemetery, Carrington. Burial was held at Carrington Cemetery, Carrington. Father Terry Dodge officiated the service. Honorary bearers were all of Lois' grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lois was born on March 26, 1922, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Alice (Hane) Lyon. Lois graduated high school from North High in North St. Paul, Minn., in 1939 and furthered her education at St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, N.D. She graduated from nursing school in 1945.

She married Joseph Ryan at St. Columbia Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minn., in 1946. Together they were blessed with 10 children. In 1968, Lois married Richard Ebentier in Aberdeen, S.D.

Lois was employed as an RN at St. John's Hospital, Fargo, N.D., Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn., Highland Cheateau Nursing Home, St. Paul, Minn., Crosby-Ironton Hospital, Crosby, Minn., and Carrington Hospital, Carrington, N.D. Lois was an EMT in Jamestown, N.D., in 1977 and on the Carrington Ambulance for seven years. She served as the secretary for the Carrington Ambulance for five years. In addition, she was on the ND EMT Board of Directors from 1977-1982 and was on a specific committee to set-up testing teams for the EMT Association of North Dakota.

Lois spent several winters in Surprise, Ariz., and enjoyed her time there as a snowbird.

Lois will be greatly missed by her children, Daniel Ryan, Sebring, Fla; Gerald Ryan, Cushing, Minn.; Kathleen (Nate) Imsdahl, Sebring, Fla., Patrick (Sally) Ryan, Omaha, Neb.; Richard (Kathy) Ryan, Williston, N.D.; and Robert (Margaret) Ryan, Fargo, N.D.; a daughter-in-law Ruby; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Alice, her husbands Joseph and Richard; children, Micheal Ryan, Jeffry Ryan, and baby twins boy and girl Ryan; a grandson Cory, a sister, Marion (Pete) West, and a brother, Harry (Betty) Lyon.
