Thelma Myhre New Rockford

Thelma Myhre, 101, New Rockford, N.D., passed away Dec. 20, 2019 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. The funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne. Burial was at the Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne. Rev. Rick Loewen officiated with special music provided by Mary Ellen Rue and Tyson Rost. Casket bearers were James Myhre, Brendan Myhre, Bjorn Myhre, Ethan Rost, Tyson Rost and Shayden Schiele. Honorary bearers were Gretchen Weber, Erika Myhre, Heather Rost, Nylenne Schiele, Sonja Van Leeuwe and 15 great-grandchildren.

Thelma was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Sheyenne, N.D., the daughter of Edward and Petra (Spangberg) Sund. Thelma attended a country school in Grandfield Township and completed her schooling at Sheyenne High School.

On July 20, 1941, Thelma was united in marriage to James Orville Myhre at the Lutheran parsonage in Sheyenne. Thelma and J. Orville were blessed with three children Jerry, Nyle and Janice.

Thelma was very active in her church. She was baptized, confirmed, a member of the Ladies Aid and sang in the Grandfield Lutheran Church choir.

Thelma is survived by two sons, Jerry (Karen) Myhre, Geneseo, Ill., Nyle (LaVonne) Myhre, Sheyenne; a daughter Janice (Keith) Rost, Cathay, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers Erling Sund, Columbus, Ohio, and Clifford (Karen) Sund, Cedar Falls, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters Gladys Erickson and Anna Irmen; three brothers Glen, Harold and Rolf Sund and two great-grandchildren.
