Belquist named 9-Man Senior Athlete of the Year

Region 2 Football awards were announced during the Dakota Bowl on Friday, Nov. 15, and New Rockford-Sheyenne had a lot to be proud of.

Bo Belquist was named 9-Man Senior Athlete of the Year by the North Dakota High School Coaches' Association for the state of North Dakota. One senior from each region vies for the award each year. Head Coach Elliott Belquist received the Coach of the Year honor.

Seniors Bo Belquist, Hunter Thompson and Nathan Holzwarth, along with juniors Johnny Grann and Hunter Johnson, were named to the All-Region team.

Other selections to the All-Region Team are as follows.

Cavalier: Andre Carrier, Tanner Urlaub, Colton Ratchenski, Isiah LeTexier, Brannin Cleem and Andre' LeTexier.

St. John: Adam Jollie, Bradley Defender, Darrion Wilson and Tate LaFloe.

North Prairie: Garrett Mongeon, Drew Norby, Xavier Mitchell and Ezera Wuori.

Nelson County: Parker Frederick, Dalton Hassel and Brady Larson.

North Border: Jacob Johnson, Eli Bjornstad and Jayce Horgan.

Dunseith: Treagan Azure and Jaxon Azure.

Benson County: John Fischer and Blayne Anderson.

North Star: Jeremiah Hill and Hayden Hagler.

Honorable mention team members from NR-S included senior Nick Presnell and sophomore Nick Berglund. Other honorable mention team members include Demetrius Avila and Trevor Hinkle of Cavalier, Michael Dunn and Tyreece Gunville of St. John; Andre Elick and Tyrel Yoder of North Prairie; Jon Haman and Cade Stein of Nelson County; Loghan Nupdahl and Mathew Greendahl of North Border; William Pfahl and Julius Grant of Dunseith; Carter Tandeski and Chase Benson of Benson County; and Bryce Prouty and Kole Graber of North Star.
