Obituary: Linda Simmons

Linda Fay Simmons, 70, of Lansford, died Sept. 2, 2019, at a Minot hospital. Her funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Trinity United Church, Lansford. Her burial was at Lansford Cemetery.

She was born June 7, 1949, in New Rockford, a daughter of Alvin and Irene (Baldwin) Paulson. She was raised in Riverdale, and later Pick City, where her dad worked on the construction of the Garrison Dam. Linda graduated from Riverdale High School in 1969. After graduation, she held various jobs.

Linda married Christopher "Chris" Simmons on Feb. 2, 1974, at Minot AFB. They lived in Minot where Linda worked various cleaning jobs before her daughter, Christine, was born. In 1977, they made their home in Lansford where Linda was a stay-at-home mother. In 2006, she started working at Schepp's Dakota Deli in Lansford, where she worked until the time of her death.

Linda was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Minot Chapter 1377.

She is survived by husband of 45 years, Christopher "Chris" Simmons, Lansford; daughter, Christine Simmons, Lansford; brother, Alvin Paulson Jr., Devils Lake; sister, Carol (Rocky) Winberg, Morrison, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Irene Paulson; infant son, Scott Allen; infant daughter, Nicole; sister, Eileen Haakenson; brothers, Evert, Myron, Larry "Buck," Gary, Dwight and Jim Comer.
