CHI Carrington and JRMC named Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals

CHI St. Alexis Health Carrington Medical Center and Jamestown Regional Medical Center are among the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the country, according to the Chartis Center for Rural Health. The announcement was made at the National Rural Health Associations Rural Health Policy Institute conference on Feb. 6.

Among the hospitals recognized this year are 19 first-time Critical Access Hospitals and 24 first-time Rural & Community Hospitals. States with the highest number of critical access top performers are Iowa Nebraska and North Dakota, and those with the most rural and community top performers are Indiana and Wisconsin.

The other seven hospitals in North Dakota making the top 100 list were Wishek Community Hospital, Towner County Medical Center (Cando), Linton Hospital, Pembina County Memorial Hospital (Cavalier), Sanford Medical Center (Mayville), West River Regional Medical Center (Hettinger) and St. Andrew’s Health Center (Bottineau).

Regarded as one of the industry's most significant designations of performance excellence, the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals and Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals are based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX from iVantage Health Analytics.

The INDEX provides a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural provider performance. Now in its ninth year, the INDEX is used to measure and monitor rural hospital performance.

The Top 100 lists are strong indicators of how proactive hospitals are when it comes to performance improvement in areas such as quality, outcomes, patient safety and market share.
