Welte nominated to serve on the U.S. District Court

Peter D. Welte has been nominated by Donald J. Trump to serve as District Judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota.

Mr. Welte is a partner with Vogel Law Firm, practicing in the areas of criminal defense and agricultural law. Prior to joining Vogel, he served as the Grand Forks States Attorney for 13 years. Mr. Welte helped establish the law firm’s Grand Forks office, which has expanded from a one-attorney office to five lawyers over Peter’s four years with Vogel.

“I am humbled and honored to be nominated to this post,” said Welte. “I look forward to seeing this process through to confirmation, and if confirmed I will strive to maintain the level of competence, public service, and integrity that has exemplified our previous District Court Judges in North Dakota. My experience in the public sector, as well as my experience with Vogel Law Firm, has prepared me well for this task. I am grateful to have been a part of Vogel Law Firm for the past four years, and I look forward to the next part of this journey.”

Rob Manly, Vogel Law Firm’s president, commented, “Peter is an excellent choice to serve on North Dakota’s federal bench. Peter has established our firm’s presence in the northern valley, but more importantly has exhibited a dedication to his clients, while maintaining an active presence in his community and with the North Dakota bar. His commitment to public service and life experience will serve him well as a judge. We all offer him our sincere congratulations.”
