Obituary: Donna Wishart

Donna Lou Gale (Hahn) Wishart, 83, passed away Oct. 11, 2018 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, N.D. The funeral service was held Oct. 16 at St. John's Catholic Church in New Rockford, Father Reese Weber officiated. Special music was provided by Heather Klocke. Casket Bearers were Ice Cream Shop Kids: Shane Munson, Wayne Munson, David Brooks, Tommy Gilliss, James Dockter and Scott Reis. Honorary bearers were all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donna was born June 28, 1935 in Rugby, N.D. She graduated Valedictorian from St. James Academy in 1953. Donna married John Wishart on Jan. 4, 1954 in Minnewaukan, N.D. She started working as a CNA at City Hospital, New Rockford when she was 13. She was a Cub Scout den mother, taught Confraternity of Christian Docterine, volunteered with the New Rockford Ambulance and was a sales rep for Creative Circle. In June of 1985, John and Donna went out to the east coast as a couple to work for Mr. Wells at Southbridge, Mass., for one year, Mrs. Sears for six and a half years in Maryland and Mrs. Lloyd for seven and a half years in Pennsylvania. They returned to North Dakota upon retirement.

Donna was a member of the Red Hat Society, St. John's Altar Society and the Stitch and Bitch Club. She was known as the "Shoe Lady" due to her collection of over 1,000 collectible shoes.

She was preceded in death by parents, Dollie and Everett Hahn; in laws, Harris and Dru Wishart; husband; two brothers, Everett Jr. and Stanley; sister, Marjorie and one step great grandson.

Donna is survived by sisters; Janice (Paul Reis) of New Rockford, Lettie Annell of Bedford, Texas; sister in law, Patricia Hahn of Kingman, Ariz; three daughters; Nancy (George) Ritzke of New Rockford, Karen (Rogar) Winkles of St. Francisville, Ill., and Jacolyn (Dave) Fleury of Attleboro, Mass.; four sons; David (Barbara) of Bensenville, Ill., Robert (Jamie) of Rolla, N.D., Gregory (Lori) of Crosby, N.D. and Timothy (Marissa) of New Rockford; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
