University of North Dakota recognizes graduates

Nearly 2,000 students were eligible to cross the stage during four commencement ceremonies at the University of North Dakota in May.

UND President Mark Kennedy presided over his second Spring Commencement ceremonies and delivered a message to the students about staying true to UND’s motto, Lux et Lex, which translates to “light and law.” In closing his speech, President Kennedy summarized his message to the graduates: "UND class of 2018, keep your diploma in a highly visible position in your home. Every time you see Lux et Lex, remind yourself to keep learning in a way that allows you to illuminate and define the future. Become the Leaders in Action you are meant to be. Make us all UND Proud.”

Area graduates included Page Anderson (BSN Summa Cum Laude) of Carrington; Alyssa Nystrom (BSCJS) and Ashley Ystaas (BGS) from New Rockford and Shantel Thumb (BA) of Sheyenne.
