Scott Turcotte

Lakeville, Minn.

Scott David Turcotte, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at his home in Lakeville, Minn.

A burial for Scott will be officiated by Father Reese Weber on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery, followed by a fellowship at the New Rockford Golf Course. All are welcome to attend. Songs "You Are Not Alone" and "I Can Only Imagine" will be sung by Annette Hovey. Honorary bearers will be Nathan Turcotte, Kelsey Weisenburger, Tory Turcotte, Benjamin Turcotte, Charlie Turcotte and all of Scott's grandchildren.

Scott was born Nov. 5, 1963, in Bemidji, Minn. He was the youngest of four children and the second son of Dick and MaryEllen Turcotte. In 1964 they made their home in New Rockford, N.D. Scott graduated from New Rockford High School in 1982. He excelled in many sports during his high school years. He participated in track, basketball and football, where he was MVP his senior year.

After graduating high school, he went to NDSU in Fargo, N.D., and NDSCS in Wahpeton, N.D., where he graduated from the heating and air (HVAC) program. He was united in marriage to Jewel (Ferguson) Turcotte on Oct. 9, 1982, in New Rockford, N.D. Soon after graduating college, he took an HVAC position in Burnsville, Minn., where they then made the Twin Cities their forever home. Over their 16 years of marriage, the couple welcomed three children, Nathan, Kelsey and Tory. On May 4, 2002, Scott was united in marriage to Erin (Meyer) Turcotte in Shakopee, Minn. During their 21 years of marriage, they welcomed two sons, Benjamin and Charlie.

Scott was very dedicated to everything that he loved; his family, his friends and his work. He always put others before himself. Scott had a successful career in HVAC, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He had a strong work ethic, often pushing his body to the limits. It was said that Scott had nine lives. He endured multiple lifelong injuries, including corn mold poisoning from cleaning out a grain bin as a teen, being crushed by a farm dump truck in his young adulthood and a snowmobile accident. He also was a stage 4 thyroid cancer survivor, underwent many surgeries and endured many illnesses. This all took a toll on his body, to the point he could no longer keep up with his passion for heating and air. During his final years, he worked for a popular family-owned hardware store.

Scott enjoyed traveling with family and friends to warmer tropical locations, as well as snowmobile and ski trips in his young adulthood. Yearly, Scott would travel to his hometown of New Rockford for opening hunting, including pheasant and deer, along with his dad and his sons. When visiting New Rockford, he enjoyed gathering with his childhood friends.

Many hours were spent boating on local lakes which left us with many wonderful memories. We had multiple trips to Disney World and Duluth. As a family, we often enjoyed taking in Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Wild games. Scott was dedicated to his son's school sports, where you would often find him cheering or grumbling during their hockey and baseball games.

Scott is survived by his parents, Dick and MaryEllen Turcotte of Bismarck, N.D.; sisters Patty Laber and MaryJo Turcotte, both of Bismarck, N.D.; his children Nathan (Ashley) Turcotte of Farmington, Minn.; Kelsey (Preston) Weisenburger of New Rockford, N.D.; Tory (Lacey) Turcotte of Elko New Market, Minn.; Benjamin Turcotte of Madison, Wisc. and Charlie Turcotte of Prior Lake, Minn. Also left to mourn his loss are his grandchildren Kolby, Hope, Casen, Knoxen, Ridge and the upcoming arrival of a baby girl. He also has left behind many nieces and nephews, as well as their children; numerous distant family members and his cat Murphy.

He is preceded in death by his brother Terry Turcotte and brother-in-law Dave Laber; other family members Bradley Weber and Dylan Turcotte; close friends Sue "Suzie" Ordahl, Marc "Macey" Mace, and Tim Moses.

Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home of New Rockford and Carrington, N.D.
