Shootin' bullseyes at BCN

Rockets archers competed in the home of the Bison on Saturday, March 2.

At Barnes County North, the locals had the most success in the 3D tournament, where 15 archers secured top 10 finishes in their respective divisions.

Freshman Layton Jacobson brought home the gold for the Rockets in 3D. His 289 was the top score of the tournament for high school boys.

The other medal winner for the Rockets was fifth grader Lydia Huso. She scored a 233, good enough for the bronze in the elementary girls' division.

Koy Zieman led the Rocket middle school archers with a 269. He finished sixth among middle school boys. Sawyer Huso was not far behind, as he shot a 266 and finished seventh in the same division. Tyler Zieman finished 10th with a 264.

In the bullseye tournament, the sole medalist for the Rockets was L. Jacobson. He finished second among high school boys with a 288.

Bradyn Collier ended up in the 10 spot among high school boys with a 275. Koy Zieman (277) and Braylon Alfstad (262) had top 10 finishes among middle school boys, landing in the fifth and 10th spots, respectively.

Rikka Gudmunson had the top score of all the Rocket girls in bullseye. She scored a 266 and finished eighth overall among high school girls.

Four other Rocket girls had top 10 finishes in bullseye: Megyn Bjerke (257) and Kaylynn Chamberlain (256) finished seventh and eighth in middle school girls, respectively.

Lydia Huso (245) finished fifth among elementary girls, while Sadie Knatterud (235) rounded out the top 10 in the same division.

The Rockets competed in their last regular season tournament last Saturday, March 9 in Rolla. Then the team will take on the state NASP tournament at the State Fair Center in Minot on Friday and Saturday, where the top 10 individuals of each division in both bullseye and 3D will qualify for the Western National Tournament in Sandy, Utah this April. The top high school, middle school and elementary teams also qualify for nationals.
