Burton "Burt" Borgerson, age 91, of West Fargo, N.D., passed away peacefully Friday, January 19, 2024, at Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with visitation held one hour prior to his service, with burial at Horace Lutheran Cemetery, Horace, N.D. Military Honors by N.D. National Guard and West Fargo VFW Post #7564.

Burton Lloyd Borgerson was born September 24, 1932, in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Joseph and Selma (Gjestvang) Borgerson. He grew up and attended school there before moving with his family in 1945 to Tolna, N.D. Burton enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954, and served overseas for two years. Upon return, he attended N.D. State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., receiving his electrician degree. There he met his beloved wife-to-be, Audrey Boehning, and they later married on July 7, 1957 in Lidgerwood, N.D. They embarked on a life filled with adventure and love, moving to West Fargo, N.D., in 1963 where they still resided.

Burt worked with various companies until he began working for the Bureau of Reclamation until his retirement. Burt and Audrey then began wintering in Mesa, Ariz., for 13 years.

He was a member of the West Fargo VFW, a former member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and current member of Faith Journey Lutheran Church both of West Fargo. A true outdoors enthusiast, Burt enjoyed deer hunting for many years. His greatest feat was getting his first moose. He is credited for teaching his son and grandsons the skill of deer hunting, both with rifle and bow. He was a skilled handyman, collector of many treasures, and woodworker. Burt and Audrey enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the years. His greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dog Chloe. Burt was a jokester and he loved to make people laugh.

Burt is survived by his devoted wife Audrey, West Fargo, and cherished children: Ronda Rheault, West Fargo, Rick Borgerson, Tolna, N.D. and Sharon (Scott) Berry, West Fargo; his grandchildren: Brea (Jeremy) Krause, Drew (Chelsie) Rheault, Zach (Kate) Borgerson, Kendra Borgerson, Lucas (Nikki) Borgerson, Blake Nitzkorski, Brandon (Kelsey) Nitzkorski. Also by eight great-grandchildren: Lucy, Jackson, Briggs, Ellie, Tucker, Paisley, Kassidey and a new arrival in March; and by his siblings, Eunice Morlock, Marvin Borgerson, and Margie Borgerson.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Selma, an infant brother, brother Raymond, son-in-law Ron Rheault, and infant grandson Andrew James Borgerson.
