Myonne R. Bye-Peters, 99, of New Rockford formerly of Devils Lake, N.D. passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd with devoted family at her side.

Visitation was held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with burial at the Warwick Cemetery at 2 p.m., following a time of fellowship at the church dining hall.

Myonne Rosella Johnson, daughter of Melvin and Clara (Gafkjen) Johnson was born on January 31, 1924, at Alamo, N.D., the oldest of three children, including her sister June and brother Melvin Jr.

In 1937 the family moved to Minnesota and Myonne graduated from Oklee High School with the class of 1942. She earned her teaching certificate and began teaching in rural schools in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Myonne was united in marriage to Harold Bye on June 8, 1946, and together they had the joy of raising their three children, Carol, Ronald and James. They established their home in the Oklee/Trail, Minn. area.

In the spring of 1956, the family moved to Warwick, N.D. and settled down at Campbell's Ranch. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Myonne continued her education while at the same time teaching school at Tiffany, Lake Washington and Warwick Public School. Harold passed away on December 14, 1969.

Myonne's spirit remained unbroken and she continued teaching at Warwick and being a devoted mother. On August 16, 1974, she married Joseph Peters and made their home in Devils Lake. Myonne retired from Warwick School in May of 1987 after 23 years there. Her teaching career spanned 32+ years. Joe died on January 19, 2017.

Myonne moved to Park Manor in Devils Lake in February of 2017 and later lived at Eventide Assisted Living. For the past year she called Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford her home.

Myonne enjoyed sewing, especially making sweatshirts and collecting dolls. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the projects and events of the church, such as quilting. She also volunteered in the community at the Senior Citizen Center.

Myonne is survived by her children: Carol (Ken) Walford of Warwick and their sons Harold, Kevin (Katina) and grandchildren Brock (Dana), Brady, Kellen, Andrew, Koven and Kage, great-grandchildren Aubri, James, Jaxon and Jett; Ronald (Shirley) Bye of Minot and their children Rolan (Donna), ReNae (Dave) and Raechelle (Kyle) and grandchildren; James Bye of Devils Lake; numerous children and grandchildren. Also surviving, sister June Anderson, Larimore, N.D.; sister-in-law Beverley Johnson, Thief River Falls, Minn.; Step-children and their families Norma Jean (Dean) Ensrud, Joseph (Kathye) Peters Jr., James Peters, Dale (Carla) Peters, Allan (Sunmin) Peters and Jodi Hahn, Mark (Lisa) Peters and their families.

Myonne was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Harold Bye and Joe Peters; brother Melvin Johnson and brother-in-law Duane Anderson.

Together we gather to celebrate the life of Myonne. Her sincere dedication to education touched the lives of countless students. Her unwavering commitment to her family and others reminds us all of the power of love and generosity.
