Arlene Geisinger, 78, died Friday, September 22, 2023 at SMP Health – Ave Maria in Jamestown.

Arlene Deutscher was born September 1, 1945 the daughter of Gustof and Amelia (Hurst) Deutscher. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Gackle, N.D.; attending the rural school in the Germania township for seven years, graduating the 8th grade from Streeter School. She helped her parents on the farm milking cows and working in the fields with her dad. She worked one summer for Ervin and Loretta Wolff before moving to Jamestown at age 18, working at White Drug uptown.

She and Gerald Schlaht were married May 1, 1965 at Gackle. Arlene continued to work part time at White Drug and Whites Home Center while raising their children, Lorrie, Angela and Cory. They were 12, 8 and 4 when their dad Gerald died from cancer April 27, 1978.

She and Duane Stahlhut were married April 12, 1980, they started Hometown Property Management where they both worked. Duane passed away Nov. 29, 1992. Arlene continued to operate the business until selling it in 1993 but continued to be employed there until 2009. Arlene never went to high school but was prompted by her bosses to get her GED, which she attained March 16, 1995. She didn't take any classes, was given the test and passed. She joked that now she has a piece of paper that shows "I know what I already knew."

She and Gary Geisinger were married July 7, 2007, they made their home on Gary's farm northwest of New Rockford, N.D. in the summer and Jamestown in the winter. They also did a lot of traveling, spending time in places where they could dance was a plus.

She attended First Baptist Church in Jamestown, was a camp secretary for Modern Woodmen of America for many years – planning activities and fundraisers. She was executive officer of the Jamestown Board of Realtors in 1997 and was also active with the Jamestown Beginning Experience. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren in sports, traveling with friends and dancing.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Lorrie (Dave) Thompson; Angela Schlaht, both of Wis.; Cory (Joan) Schlaht, Minot; two grandsons, Adam and AJ Thompson; one sister, Adeline Geist, West Fargo; two nieces and three nephews; Duane's children, Kari Brantley, Colo., Beth (Roger) Dewald, and Rollie (Carol) Stahlhut, all of Jamestown, N.D., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Gary's daughter, Rosebud (Brent) Downing, Texas and their two children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Gerald Schlaht and Duane Stahlhut, one sister, Alma Becker, one brother, Alton Deutscher, two brothers-in law, one sister-in-law, one niece and three nephews.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Buffalo City Church in Jamestown, N.D. Visitation was at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment was at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
