Within our Walls: Dr. Page

This week's edition of Within Our Walls features Dr. Michael Page. Dr. Page is a native of Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School in 1989. He entered Minot State University in the fall of 1989 to begin his journey of becoming a doctor. He graduated from Minot State University in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. From Minot Dr. Page transitioned to Grand Forks where he attended UND School of Medicine. He graduated from UND in 1997 with a doctor of medicine degree, and completed his residency in 2000. During this time, CHC presented Dr. Page with an employment offer which he accepted. He has been employed by CHC for over 22 years.

Dr. Page is a family practice doctor who provides care to patients of all ages. He also provides care to nursing home residents in both Carrington and New Rockford. In the clinic setting, Dr. Page is able to perform physical exams, toe nail removals, skin excisions for skin cancer and numerous other procedures. In the hospital setting, he performs more invasive procedures such as paracentesis, and thoracentesis. Both procedures involve inserting a needle into the body to remove fluid for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. During a paracentesis, the needle is inserted into the peritoneal cavity, or the abdominal space, and during a thoracentesis, the needle is inserted into the pleural cavity, or the space around the lungs. Dr. Page has also received additional education over his 22 years with CHC to provide him with the skills needed to perform procedures not already offered at CHC. One such skill is the ability to perform endoscopy procedures such as esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD) and colonoscopies. He has performed over 10,000 of these procedures during his career. Another skill he has acquired is the ability to perform Laser Vein Ablation procedures to assist with painful varicose veins.

When Dr. Page is asked what the most rewarding part of his job is, he states it is the relationships he has made with his patients, and the ability to improve their quality of life. In contrast, the least favorite and most stressful part of his job is caring for and being responsible for people he has known his whole life.

During his free time, Dr. Page enjoys hunting, chess, and reading. He also enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Page is the proud father of five children and proud grandfather of five grandchildren. His oldest son Easton is the business manager at Golden Acres Manor. He and his wife Brooke are the proud parents of two little girls. His oldest daughter Josey is a teacher at Carrington High School. She and her husband Taylor are the proud parents of two little girls, and one little boy. Next in line is his daughter Gracie. She is married to Walker and is a registered nurse. Rounding out the five children are sons Drew and Luke. Drew is a student at MSU, and Luke is a student at UND.

Dr. Michael Page is in the clinic Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 7:30 AM to 5PM. Fridays he performs endoscopy procedures in the hospital.
