Back to School Night Tuesday

To the relief of parents everywhere and virtually none of their children, summer is almost over.

That means it's back-to-school time, and New Rockford-Sheyenne is gearing up for its annual welcome party for the district’s students.

This year’s back-to-school event will take place on Tuesday, August 15 at All Veterans Memorial Park, where the city pool is located.

All NR-S students and families are welcome to the event, where there’ll be ice cream served between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. and attendees will be able to meet and chat with the NR-S staff.

Brand new this year is a pinewood derby! Students were handed pinewood derby car kits on the last day of school, and starting at 4:30 p.m. they’ll compete to see who constructed the fastest derby car over the summer.Families are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for comfort.

Anyone who still needs a pinewood derby car is encouraged to contact the school.

Afterwards, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., the pool will open for free swimming! Admission will be limited to the first 125 people attending the back-to-school event.
