The New Rockford Fire Department and Community Ambulance Service of New Rockford could be seen outside the Brown Memorial Auditorium on Thursday, July 13, due to a short-circuited smoke alarm.
On Thursday, July 13, the New Rockford Fire Department rushed to the Brown Memorial Auditorium in downtown New Rockford.
The scene sparked concern among community members for a downtown New Rockford building and for the children of Mindy's Clubhouse, a daycare that operates inside the Brown Memorial.
Thankfully, however, there was little cause for concern.
New Rockford Fire Chief Brian Hopfauf confirmed that no one was injured and that the cause was quickly identified.
The roof of the Brown Memorial is currently under construction, and when a brief rain storm passed over New Rockford that afternoon, water managed to seep in and find the smoke alarm, which short circuited and went off without warning.
