NR-S students recognized at Awards Night

On Friday, May 12, NR-S honored students in grades 7-12 during the annual Awards Night.

Madisen Myhre was named Outstanding Senior Female Athlete, and Haydon Meier was the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete.

Four seniors will wear red HERO chords at graduation: Emma Duda, Kyria Dockter, Madisen Myhre and Mark McDowell. The chords are given to students who donate blood and/or help organize a blood drive at least three times in high school.

Hallie Brown and Donavun McCorkle were named Outstanding Actors for One Act. Eli Alfstad was named as Honorable Mention Actor.

Courtney Wiesz, adviser of NR-S FBLA awarded the four students involved with FBLA. Donavun McCorkle, Rikka Gudmunson, Dominick Swinland and Taylor Anderson were all awarded the FBLA Membership award. Rikka and Donavun were also awarded with the Local Chapter's Who's Who award. Donavun received an award for taking eighth place in the Introduction to Financial Math competition. Rikka was awarded for her sixth place finish in the Organizational Leadership competition.

NR-S head basketball coach Tyler Cook recognized the boys' basketball team. Bennett Meier was named MVP of Offense, while MVP of Defense went to Easton Benz. The hardest worker and most improved awards went to Kailar Jacobson.

The varsity volleyball team was recognized by head coach Sara Myhre. The three statisticians – Emma Duda, Bailey Baumbach and Abby Nystrom were first recognized for their dedication and commitment to the volleyball program. Next were four girls who stepped up in many ways: Emmie Belquist, Alivia Yri, Logan Cudworth and Addysen Fandrich. Coach Myhre stated, "I have seen so much growth in these four athletes and maturity over this past season." Kaiya O'Connor and Ava Peterson were selected to receive the Most Versatile Player award. The Team Spirit award went to Ava Bullinger, while the Hustle and Heart award went to Lucy Meier. Lora Wobbema received the Most Improved Player award and Kelsie Belquist received the MVP award. NR-S senior Kyria Dockter was awarded with the Hardest Worker award and senior, Madisen Myhre was awarded the Leadership award. And lastly, Bailey Jacobson received the Endurance award.

Six esports players were recognized and awarded by esports coach Brady Eichelberger. Jacob Louters received both the Rocket League MVP award and the Valorant Defensive Player award. Tristan Shrock was awarded Fortnite MVP, wherease Hannah Dockter was awarded the Fortnite Most Improved award. Beau Baumbach received the Valorant Offensive Player award and Tatyn Heskin received the Valorant Most Improved award. Chaztin Wobbema was deemed the Most Reliable Player.

NR-S seniors Hallie Brown and Emma Duda both received special music awards. Brown was presented with the National Choral award and Duda received the Leonard Bernstein Musicianship award.
