Wreckin' Records

In just his freshman year, Parker Jacobson is the all-time single-season 3-point scorer for the Washburn Cardinals.

Parker Jacobson is the son of Keith Jacobson, a graduate of New Rockford High School who used to play for the Rockets under head coach Harry Pieterick.

Jacobson amassed 93 total 3-pointers during the regular season, and boasted an impressive 50 percent field goal percentage from beyond the arc. The previous record holder in Washburn was Nate Schafer, who tallied 91 total 3-pointers in 1999.

Of all his 3-pointers, however, none was more important than the long-range shot he took at the end of his team's quarterfinal matchup with Wilton-Wing at the Class B region 5 basketball tournament in Bismarck.

With just 1.1 seconds remaining, Jacobson launched a 3-pointer towards the basket and watched as he gave his team their first lead since the third quarter, and lifted them to the semifinals with a 67-66 win.

The game-winning 3-pointer was the sixth of the night for Jacobson, encapsulating just how dominant he's been from long range all season long.

During the Washburn Cardinals' loss to the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets this season, Jacobson was one of the leading scorers for Washburn with 9 points from three 3-pointers.

For his outstanding efforts, Jacobson was named to the all-region team at the regional tournament in Bismarck. The Cardinals played for third place in the tournament on Thursday, March 9, after press time.
