Archers travel to Wilton

The Wilton Miners hosted their annual archery tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11. Archers competed in both bullseye and 3D, and there were some new competitors at the top of the ranks for NR-S.

Senior Mark McDowell had an exceptional bullseye tournament, scoring 284, his personal best. He finished first overall in high school boys and was also named the top overall male archer in the tournament.

Classmate Kyria Dockter earned a bronze medal in the high school girls’ division, scoring a 266.

In the middle school division, Sawyer Huso had the best score for the Rockets. He scored a 270 and took home third place among the middle school boys.

Auggie Meier led the elementary Rocket archers. He scored a 244, the second best among the 37 elementary school boys competing.

Other top 10 finishers for the Rockets in the bullseye tournament included Jackson Brazil (7th in high school boys, 266), Emma Duda (8th in high school girls, 254), and Eli Alfstad (8th in middle school boys, 260).

Eli Alfstad topped all Rockets in the 3D division. He scored a 275, which was a new personal best in 3D, and earned the gold medal among middle school boys.

Kyria Dockter also finished at the top of her division. Her score of 268 was first among high school girls and fourth overall for the girls.

Sawyer Huso earned the fifth place medal in the middle school boys’ 3D division, with a score of 260.

Other top 10 finishers for the Rockets were freshman Vinnie Ruppell (10th in high school boys, 259) and junior Lora Wobbema (8th in high school girls, 248).

The Rockets trekked to Gackle on Saturday, Feb. 18, for a bullseye tournament. Results from that tournament will be in the Feb. 27 edition. The Rockets will compete in the Harvey Eagle Eye Tournament, with both 3D and bullseye divisions, on Feb. 25, a short drive for fans who want to see archery action.
