Talk of the Town: Feb. 20, 2023

House guests and helpers for a couple days at the Candy Jensen home were Brenda Thurin and Jazzy. Monday, the gals went on a shopping spree in Devils Lake.

Calvin Packard was a helper off and on this week at Mom, Shirley Packard’s. Todd Harrison also helped aunt Shirley do a few tasks on Saturday.

Friday, Amanda Bickett drove her parents, Ken and Marvis Holte, to Jamestown where mom had a medical appointment. They also did a bit of shopping and enjoyed lunch before returning home.

Saturday, Janet Laube and YipYip took advantage of the in-town vet service at the Fire Station. YipYip got his necessary shots updated by Vet. Pete Tjelta.

Eloise Lucht was happy to see and visit with grandson, Caleb Schneider, Sunday afternoon as he stopped in on his return trip from Devils Lake to Jamestown where he is going to college.

BE AWARE: Scammers are around. Friday, Feb. 3, early morning, Charlotte Koepplin received a call supposedly from a young relative in trouble that needed $7,000 for bail as he was using his cell phone while driving and dropped it and in the process of retrieving it ran over a lady pedestrian. She was pregnant and in the hospital and he couldn’t be in jail for six weeks waiting for a hearing. He was even going to let me talk to his lawyer, Daniel. He was even sobbing and crying! I asked him if I could ask him a question and he said yes. I asked him what his baby brothers name was. He said he had no baby brother. I said, “Yes, you do, a half brother.” He said, “Oh, you mean Michael?” Not even close! I gave him a few choice words and he hung up right quick. My phone registered Unknown Number when I first answered the phone. He called me Gramma? I’m not a gramma?
