Shooting reported at Rindy's Sheyenne Bar

Authorities identify person of interest

UPDATED MON, FEB. 20, 12:40 P.M.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, law enforcement responded to a shooting at Rindy's Bar in Sheyenne, N.D.

That evening, Eddy County Sheriff Paul Lies confirmed that one male victim was transported to the CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Carrington, and that one male shooter is still at large.

Lies confirmed to the Transcript Monday that the male victim has died.

A person of interest in the crime has been identified as 45-year-old Nicholas Poitra. Poitra is a Native American with brown eyes and black hair. He stands 6'3" tall and weighs approximately 260 lbs.

Poitra is considered armed and extremely dangerous, and should not be approached if spotted.

"I can't stress enough how dangerous this guy is right now," Sheriff Lies said Monday.
