CCCC signing agreement to establish registered apprenticeships

Cankdeska Cikana (Little Hoop) Community College (CCCC) is hosting a signing event on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the CCCC amphitheater to commemorate the signing of an agreement to establish registered apprenticeships at CCCC for regional workforce development. CCCCs Early Childhood Education and Social Work Programs are the initial programs for the agreement to help staff local Head Start programs and tribal or regional social services departments. The public is invited to attend.

The agreement(s) is with the U.S. Department of Labor and the Spirit Lake Tribe’s community college, CCCC, who is part of a statewide network, North Dakota Tribal College System (NDTCS), that recently received a significant grant from several oil corporations to establish registered apprenticeships at the North Dakota tribal colleges to address workforce development needs, including for tribal employment.

“Signing the agreement signifies the strong partnership CCCC has with Lake Region State College (LRSC) and now, with the U.S. Department of Labor, for new career and workforce opportunities for our students,” said Dr. Cynthia Lindquist, President, CCCC. It is a melding of college work study and internships with apprenticeships for unique and diverse choices for college students.

Berry Dutton, North Dakota’s liaison for the U.S. Department of Labor and President Doug Darling, LRSC, will be in attendance.
