Belquist, O'Connor set NR-S records in win over Cougars

Along with Belquist, setter Kaiya O'Connor (4) had a record-breaking game for assists. O'Connor had a total of 45 assists against the Cougars on Thursday night. Ava Peterson (3) is also shown here, ready to hit.
And their winning streak just keeps going.
The Rockets' made the 2-hour trek to Rolla, N.D. on Thursday, Oct. 13 to take on Super Region 4 competitors, the North Prairie Cougars.
Before the start of the game, North Prairie senior Carmen Elick was recognized for her 1,000th assist with a signed volleyball. Congratulations Carmen!
The first set went back and forth between the Rockets and the Cougars.NR-S sophomore, Logan Cudworth, was sent to the floor at match point. She served up an ace for the Rockets, and the locals earned the 25-22 win in the first set.
The second set went quite similar, but with the Cougars taking the 25-22 win after earning 13 points in a row, mainly from North Prairie outside hitter, Madison Samuelson.
The third set brought many errors, mainly from the hitters. Many hits were either sent far out of bounds or straight into the net, which aided in North Prairie's 25-15 win.
The fourth set brought many errors for the Cougars, mainly in the back row. With these errors, the Rockets' hitters and servers took advantage. The Rockets took the fourth set 25-16.
The final set of the night was yet another nail biter. The Rockets and Cougars went point-by-point. The Rockets finally pulled away with a 15-12 win, taking the Cougars 3-2.
NR-S junior, Kelsie Belquist, had a record night for kills, with 37 total. Also with a record-breaking game, was NR-S setter, Kaiya O'Connor with a total of 45 assists.
Many Rockets players also scored in double digits in digs. Kyria Dockter led the team with 25 total. Also in double digits were Belquist with 22, Ava Peterson with 18, O'Connor with 14, Madisen Myhre with 13 and Cudworth with 10.
