O'Connor sets 1,000 assists

At the Des Lacs-Burlington Laker Invite this past weekend, New Rockford-Sheyenne sophomore, Kaiya O'Connor, hit her 1,000th assist during the second set of the NR-S versus Ray game on Saturday, Oct. 1.

O'Connor has been a varsity starter since last season. In those few months, O'Connor had racked up 729 assists. O'Connor couldn't have gotten this far without the help of these main hitters for the Rockets: Mya Cudworth, Kelsie Belquist, Macey Wobbema, Madisen Myhre and Ava Peterson.

Although Cudworth and Wobbema have graduated, O'Connor still has outstanding hitters on her front line.

Among Belquist, Myhre and Peterson, Lucy Meier and Lora Wobbema have also aided in O'Connor hitting her 1,000th assist.

"I couldn't have done it without them," said O'Connor.

O'Connor is the daughter of Anthony and Kristy O'Connor, and the sibling of Kyrie Dauenhauer, née O'Connor, McKenzie Jensen, Kaden Jensen and Kolton O'Connor.
