Rockets sting Hornets at homecoming

The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets traveled to Fessenden on Thursday, Sept. 22 to take on the Harvey/Wells County Hornets.

The Rockets rained on their Homecoming parade, taking them down 3-0.

With the Hornets losing seven seniors from last year, many players needed to step up in the leadership role.

With that deficit in the Hornets lineup, the Rockets took advantage and played the court well.

NR-S juniors, Kelsie Belquist, Lucy Meier and Lora Wobbema were three of the Rockets' players playing one of their best games at the net. From kills to blocks, these three players effectively manned the net. Belquist, Meier, and Wobbema each had one block along with freshman, Ava Peterson.

Belquist led the team in kills with a total of 17. Madisen Myhre also scored in double digits at the net with 11 kills. Meier added four, and Peterson and Wobbema each had three.

As for the back row, Kyria Dockter led the team in digs with 20. Also hitting double digits for the Rockets in digs was Belquist with 14.

The Rockets junior varsity team was taken down by the Hornets 2-1 (23-25, 15-25, 15-10). C-squad came out with a 2-1 victory over the Hornets (25-17, 21-25, 15-13).
