Commission candidate forum at county shop Tuesday

Election night is right around the corner, and there are a few contested local races in Eddy County.

One such election is for the county commission, for which there are four names on the ballot and only two seats available.

Dave Gehrtz is the lone incumbent in the running, as long-time commissioner Neall Rud announced his intention not to run for reelection earlier this year.

Also on the ballot are Jamie Allmaras, a local farmer who received more votes than anyone in this year’s summer primary; Jeff Pfau, a former Eddy County commissioner and longtime Main Street business owner; and Dale Rosenberg, a Vietnam Veteran and active member of the American Legion Post 30.

These four candidates will come together on Tuesday, Sept. 20 for a meet and greet with the community members they’d like to serve.

Those in attendance will have a chance to meet the candidates and hear from each of them about their reasons for running and what they hope to accomplish as a commissioner.

The event will take place from 7-9 p.m. at the county shop on Highway 20.

Later this fall, the Transcript will also invite each of the candidates to participate in a Q&A session, which will be featured in a future edition of the Transcript.
