Spinner Selection Key on DL Now

The walleye fishing has been good on Devils Lake this past week! Bug hatches, tons of new food like baby perch and white bass, and lots of freshwater shrimp, give fish plenty to eat, yet the walleyes on Devils Lake just continue to bite!

What's working? Well, it's Devils Lake, and it seems like whatever you like to use will work!

What's working best? In my opinion if you want to put fish in the boat pull a bottom bouncer and a spinner tipped with crawlers. For me it's been a rotation of spinner colors. I'll keep changing until I find the color that seems to trigger the fish. I'm running them on old shoreline structure, sunken roads and islands, and along the weed edges in 7 to 12 feet of water is still producing a lot of bites. If you want to catch some bigger fish, pull crankbaits.

I will be headed back to Sakakawea for about 10 days, and it sounds like that is also on fire. I'll be able to bring you a report on the Big Lake shortly.

My dates are filling in fast, I do however have some random openings in September. I'm also starting to book late fall Missouri River trips near Bismarck and ice fishing trips up on Devils Lake. Get ahold of me if you are interested!
