Live music, zucchini bake-off highlight Thursday's Summer Street Market

Enjoy it while it lasts! This Thursday, Aug. 11 is the last-of-the-season Summer Street Market in downtown New Rockford, from 4-8 p.m.

Yes, there will be more than a dozen vendors in the park selling their wares. And, of course, there will be lots of food. Businesses will be open offering sales and specials as well.

But, that’s not all folks!

Tap your toes to live music from Pastor Amy & friends in the gazebo! Featuring four different themed sets between the hours of 4:30 - 6:30, there’s tunes for nearly every musical taste.

• 4:30 - Kids Sing Along

• 5:00 - ‘50s and ‘60s Classics

• 5:30 - ‘70s and ‘80s Hits

• 6:00 - Songs of Praise

Do you like to bake, and have a competitive streak? Enter the Zucchini Baking Contest hosted by Tiffany Munson. Anyone can enter a baked good that uses zucchini in the recipe for a chance to win bragging rights from the judges!

Here are the “rules”: Baked entries must be received at the judging table by 6 p.m. Judging promptly begins at 6 p.m. with the winner announced at 6:30.

With evening eats from the Sweet Prairie Food Truck and Cities Service Luncheonette, and fresh squeezed lemonade to drink, they’ve got supper covered.

Local businesses will offer promotions earlier in the day, too. Bank Forward is serving root beer floats from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Central Pharmacy and New Rockford Transcript will have flash sales during business hours.

Miller’s Fresh Foods’ end-of-season Ribfest is going on Thursday as well, and they’re serving up racks of ribs with assorted sides from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or until gone!)

Businesses participating in the Summer Street Market festivities will have balloons by their front doors, so shoppers can easily find the deals.

Summer is winding down, so let’s send it out with a bang! Shop downtown New Rockford this Thursday, Aug. 11.
