Serene time at Sacred Serenity

Lund opens massage business inside Shear Delight

"The key to relaxation is in the palm of your hand."

That's the motto of Sacred Serenity Massage Therapy, a new business in New Rockford owned and operated by Susan Lund.

Housed inside Shear Delight Salon on 820 Central Avenue, Sacred Serenity offers numerous treatments and therapies designed to relax and heal patrons. Aroma therapy, cupping and a detoxifying body wrap are just a few of the options available.

Lund is a licensed massage therapist and cosmetologist, and she couldn't be more excited to begin healing the New Rockford community, one person at a time.

"When I went to massage therapy school, it became a passion of mine to help others with the ability of massage," said Lund. "There's a lot of aspects of massage that people don't realize help with more than just body, but mind as well."

A native of Oregon, Lund first moved to New Rockford in May of 2014, where she began work at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. She is a mother to three children: Janika, 18, Donavun, 14, and Mason, 9.

In 2018, however, everything changed, as Lund said a tough year for her and her family propelled her to take her life in a new direction and pursue her dreams.

"I got divorced, and it inspired me to figure out what I want out of life," said Lund. "So it was really a hard year, but in December of 2018 I decided that I wanted to go back to school ... and within two weeks I was enrolled and ready to start."

From 2019 through 2021, Lund attended the Salon Professional Academy in Fargo, N.D., and in February of this year, she completed a mentorship program at Rejuvenate Massage in Silver City, New Mexico.

Through her education, she's learned how best to relieve stress and tension, and in particular, help those going through injuries or recovering from surgery.

"I really enjoy helping people who have gone through injuries or surgeries and things like that and helping them on the right track back to normal life. I've had several clients over the last year who've gone through a surgery ... who just need some help to get back on track and I've found that massages really help them."

Lund specializes in deep tissue massage, and believes there's many scenarios in which a massage might be helpful for potential clients, even if they're not working through active injuries.

"Massage therapy is a great way to relieve stress and tension in the body, along with overall body health," she said. "It also helps with overall immunity health because the lymphatic system is worked on during a massage and it actually helps you stay healthy longer."

Lund said clients can expect a professional, tranquil and inviting environment when they come to Sacred Serenity for their massage, and added that she'll work with everyone who comes in to establish what kind of massage will work best for them.
