A Sheyenne man was killed in an early morning ATV crash on Saturday, July 23.
According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Keith Drake, 60, of Sheyenne was traveling northbound on 2nd Street North in Sheyenne around 2:25 a.m.
The 2013 Can-Am Outlander he was driving hit a parked commercial motor vehicle north of the intersection with Riverside Avenue. Drake was ejected from the ATV, and he was provided medical attention at the scene.
Drake was taken to CHI St. Alexius Carrington Medical Center by Community Ambulance Service, and was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Benson County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Indian Affairs- Fort Totten Agency, New Rockford Fire Department and Sheyenne Fire Department responded.
A funeral service for Drake was held Friday, July 29 at First Lutheran Church in Sheyenne. Drake’s obituary is printed on page A5.
