Peggy Burckhard, 71, Minot, N.D., passed away Monday, June 6, 2022 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy Jean Rue was born October 30, 1950. The daughter of Rueben and Dorothy (Hanson) Rue in New Rockford, N.D. She spent her childhood in Sheyenne and Rolla, N.D. She moved to Minot in 1964 where she lived with her parents and two sisters, Joann and Shelly.

Peggy married the love of her life, David Burckhard, on August 4, 1973, in Minot, N.D. They started their family in Surrey, N.D. They later moved to Minot and continued to grow their family.

Peggy and David are members of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Minot.

Peggy devoted her life and love to her husband and their eight children. Peggy was a selfless woman who chose to live a simple and content life. The loss of her oldest child, Todd, reinforced her belief that family is everything and time with family should not be taken for granted. Each year, she looked forward to vacationing with all her loved ones in Minnesota. Her home was always open for those in need of a hot cup of coffee and her wisdom.

Peggy was an avid reader and known for her extensive collection of books. She looked forward to her weekly trips to the library, often accompanied by her grandchildren. Peggy and David have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her loving family includes: Husband of 48 years, David Burckhard; Children: Rachael (Khris) Walz, Angela (Eric) Shaw, Natalie Burckhard, Emily (Blake) Bauer, Joel (Cait) Burckhard, Paul Burckhard, Patrick (Christina Patterson) Burckhard, and Corrie Burckhard; Grandchildren: Aunnah, Lainee, Mylah Shaw, Marty and Mattson Burckhard, Gannon and Emree Walz, William and Ellie Haisley, Otto and Milo Bauer, Parker Burckhard; Great-grandchild: Bentley Shaw Sister: Shelly (Mark) Wasser; Brother-in-law: Rick Maj.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Dorothy Rue; Sister, Joann Maj; Son, Todd Burckhard.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 20, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Minot. Interment was held at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, N.D. Visitation was Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service was Sunday at 6 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Minot. Memorials are preferred to St. Gerard's Nursing Home, 613 1st Ave. SW, Hankinson, N.D. 58041.
