4-H Showcase event held on June 13 in Carrington

The 4-H Showcase event for Foster and Eddy counties was held Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Carrington Research Extension Center. The 4-H Showcase consisted of two categories, Project Expo and Consumer Clothing Revue. Both categories of exhibitors are interviewed and evaluated by judges. 4-H club members demonstrate thought, effort and knowledge they have about their exhibits and projects.

The 4-H youth that participated in Project Expo created a table display related to a 4-H project in which they were enrolled. 4-H youth also participated in the Consumer Clothing Revue - "The participants in Consumer Clothing Revue modeled the garment for the judges to evaluate style, fit and poise.

Foster County 4-H youth who participated received the following awards with the titles of their Expos and Consumer Clothing Revue entries:

• Eddy County Junior Project Expo Grand Champion recipient was Blaine O'Dell for his display, "Dimetredon," which was about the fearsome dinosaur and featured Blaine's drawings of the creature.

• The Foster County Senior Junior Project Expo Champion recipient was Kerigan Koepplin. Kerigan's display, "Beeswax Wraps," featured handmade food-safe, beeswax-covered reusable cotton cloth wraps.

• The Foster County Junior Decorate Your Duds (Consumer Clothing Revue) Grand Champion was Juliette Davis who featured a hand-lettered sweatshirt.

• Teigan Alderman and Kelsy Larson participated in the Cloverbud Buy and Show (Consumer Clothing Revue) Division. The Buy and Show category featured a purchased or recycled major clothing item that relates to a wardrobe plan. Youth select an item appropriate for modeling in a public revue. Teigan modeled a summer dress and explained how the purchase fit into her summer wardrobe. Kelsy modeled a denim short and knot top and explained how her purchase fit into her wardrobe.

The Grand award recipients have the option to represent Eddy and Foster County at the state 4-H Showcase event at the North Dakota State Fair on Monday, July 25.
