NR-S Elementary students earn awards for success during the 2021-22 school year

On Friday, May 27, New Rockford-Sheyenne public school held their annual elementary awards ceremony.

Students were awarded for their great successes throughout the 2021-22 school year. Awards given out were the President's Education award, music awards, archery awards and Academic Challenge awards.

A total of 17 sixth graders received the President's Education Award. To receive this award, students had to have a 3.5 grade-point-average or above. These 17 students are pictured above.

Next on the agenda were the music awards. Five NR-S students received music awards. Three awards were given out for music: Recorder karate, practice certificate and completing a sticker chart certificate. Gabriel Smith, Seth Greiner, Areeya Brenno and Aubree Kukowski all received a certificate for recorder karate. Sophie Skogen, Kukowski and Smith received practice certificates. Kukowski and Smith received certificates for completing a sticker chart.

Students who shot a score of 230 or higher in archery received certificates. Students who received certificates were Fisher Genre, Koy Zieman, Beau Baumbach, Braylon Alfstad, Glenn Skjerva, Ayden Gable and Sawyer Huso.

Lastly, certificates of academic achievement were handed out to the students who made up the Academic Challenge team. The 12 students who made up the team are pictured at right.

The Elementary Academic Challenge event was scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 in Harvey, but was postponed due to North Dakota's third winter of the year. Once the event had been rescheduled, the NR-S team was unable to attend, due to scheduling conflicts.
