Eagles donate to 4-H Shooting Sports program

The sharp shooters of Eddy County 4-H got a shot in the arm from the local Eagles Club this past week.

After leader Mike Brazil made a presentation to the board of directors at their meeting on April 6, the club donated $5,000 to the local club, which is in its second year of operation.

Brazil told the Transcript Wednesday that the funds will be used to cover operating expenses for the growing club. Brazil also plans to file for 501 (c) (3) designation, which is both expensive and time-consuming.

The club is planning a camping outing at Warsing Dam in June, as well as a weekend trip to Lake Metigoshe State Park later this year. Travel, gas, food and cabin rental are among the costs that the club will incur for these events.

Brazil also recognized the Eddy County Rod and Gun Club, who are also key sponsors of the shooting sports program. They donated a pallet of clays (an $850 value) and have offered the use of their gun range at no charge.
