Jacob Willmar Johnson, 20, of Glenfield, N.D., passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont., on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Prairie Faith Lutheran Church, Glenfield, N.D. Burial was at the Eastman Cemetery, rural Glenfield. Rev. Russ Christiansen officiated with special music by Jo Dee Messina, Donna Taggart and Haley Joelle. Honorary bearers were Connor Leininger, Ethan Utke, Sam Hoggarth, Breck Ehlers, Jake Timm and Jory Boote.

Jacob was born in Jamestown, N.D. to Keith and Amy Johnson on Jan. 30, 2002. By the time Jacob turned five he had been joined by his two sisters, Josie and Kylie.

Jacob attended Tot's Landing Preschool and Midkota Elementary School both in Binford, N.D. Jacob spent his high school years at Midkota High School in Glenfield, graduating in May of 2020. He was in FBLA, basketball, Envirothon, and track & field, specifically javelin.

After high school Jacob completed a 16-week course at Lynnes Welding Training in Fargo, N.D. and received his welding certificate. Shortly after graduation he joined the Boilermakers, where he worked many jobs in North Dakota and Minnesota. He then did some welding work for area farmers and ranchers until deciding to join the family farm in the fall of 2021.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Keith and Amy and sisters, Josie and Kylie, Glenfield, N.D.; girlfriend Alexis Rushlow, Glenfield, N.D.; great-grandpa Monroe Tweed of Tolna, N.D.; grandparents Herman and Linda Johnson of Glenfield, N.D. and Bruce and Marcy Kjelgaard of McHenry, N.D.; aunts Sara (Tony) Hoggarth of Kimberly, Idaho and Sara (Brent) Adrian of Warwick, N.D.; uncle Michael (Jen) Kjelgaard of McHenry, N.D. and nine cousins.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Jerome and Martha Sandvol, Willmar and Evalyn Johnson, Bette Tweed, Myron and Virginia Kjelgaard and cousin Hailey Hoggarth.
