NDTOA urges attendance at township annual meetings

The Board of Directors of ND Township Officers Association urge residents of townships in North Dakota to attend the Annual Meeting of the Township they reside in. The meeting this year will be held Tuesday, March 15. All township annual meetings should be on this date. Notice of such meeting and detailed information for Eddy County township meetings are published on page 3 of the County Extra this week.

This is YOUR meeting. This is where YOU have a say in tax levy of the township, this is where YOU have a say in the election of the township officers, this is where YOU have a say in the operation of the township.

N.D. Century Code specifies a certain number of electors (township residents eligible to vote) are needed to conduct the annual meeting and hold an election of officers. Many townships struggle to meet this specification due to lack of attendance by enough township residents. It should be part of our civic duty to attend these meetings and help keep local control of our needs and wishes. Help keep grassroots government alive and well.
