Time to register for your local Hunters Education classes

Volunteer instructors are again offering Hunters Education classes in New Rockford this spring. Interested individuals should register for the class online and attend the in-person class FREE of CHARGE. For individuals taking the course online, there will be a registration fee.

Classes will be held at the New Rockford Eagles Club from 6:00 - 8:45 p.m. on the dates listed below along with what will be taught in each class:

• Thursday, March 10: Enrollment, introduction, overview of the course material; Chapter 1 - Hunter and Hunter Education; Chapter 2 - Hunter Responsibility

• Friday, March 11: Chapter 3 - Today’s Firearm

• Monday, March 14: Chapter 3 - Today’s Firearm; Chapter 4 - Firearms Safety

• Tuesday, March 15: Chapter 5 - Understanding Ammunition

• Wednesday, March 16: Chapter 6 - Shooting Skills and Shooting Positions

• Thursday, March 17: Chapter 7 - Preparing for the Hunt and Outdoor Safety; Chapter 8 - Making the Shot

• Friday, March 18: Chapter 9 - Specialty Hunting and Trapping; Chapter 10 - Habitat and Wildlife Conservation; Final Review

The final written and practical exam will be taken on Monday, March 21.

Adults age 16 and older can take the class online. Any individual who wants to take the online course has to attend the first day of class on Thursday, March 10 along with at least one of the other classes and on Monday, March 21 for the final written and practical exam.

Students are encouraged to attend all classes. There will be gun handling practice at the last hour of each class period. It is highly recommended that students who are taking the class online to attend this gun handling practice part.

Registration for the class should be done online prior to attending the class. On the first day there will be in-class registration. Parent(s) need to be present to register their children if they are under 18 years old.
